Tom Sawyer --->> Chapter 12
In Chapter 12 Tom is said to be sick, his aunt tries a long series of medicines and remedies, but none seem to work. Well, maybe Tom isn’t sick at all. None of her remedies work because its love sickness and only the person you love could do something about it. He is sick in a romantic way because he misses Becky and maybe he loves Becky a lot that he feels alone and need someone to be with him. I think Tom isn’t pretending or acting anything because he changes a lot in two ways: he reached school ahead of time and he no longer took an interest in war, nor even in piracy.

Jajaja.. very ROMANTIC answer isa. jaja.. But why do you think the painkiller did have an effect on Tom?
Interesting points!! ... Yes, I agree with you about that he wasn´t sick, he was just sad and in love. So if the Painkiller didn´t work.. what made Tom feel strong and good again?
I also agree about Tom not being sick just being depressed!!! But why do you think the painkiller didn't have any effect on Tom?
Nita: yes I think it had an effect but for me the effect was seeing Becky again...Nicole: He felt strong again because he saw Becky but at the same time I think the painkiller gave him some effect..Daysi: Maybe it gave him some effect.
